The Global Fund concluded its mission to Baku, Azerbaijan, which took place from September 23 to 26, 2024. Led by Olga Avdeeva, Fund Portfolio Manager, the mission marked an important step in advancing public health efforts in tuberculosis (TB) and HIV control. Accompanied by experts Nineta Avani (Program Officer), Tetiana Saliuk (Public Health/M&E Specialist), and Jamie Tonsing (Senior Disease Advisor on Tuberculosis), the team worked closely with Azerbaijani officials to launch the new Global Fund Grant Cycle 7 (GC7) and review the closure of Grant Cycle 6 (GC6).
The mission underscored the Global Fund’s commitment to strengthening partnerships between international experts and local stakeholders. The mission’s outcomes pave the way for continued progress in tackling the dual epidemics of TB and HIV in Azerbaijan, while ensuring sustainable improvements in the country’s healthcare.
